PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a 1-1 draw by Kaizer Chiefs in an entertaining league encounter at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday afternoon.

Ramahlwe Mphahele opened the scoring for Chiefs as early as the eighth minute before Ricardo Nascimento leveled matters from the penalty spot midway through the first as the match ended 1-1.

Amakhosi took the lead through former Downs captain Ramahlwe Mphahlele as early as the eighth minute after intercepting a pass to Gaston Sirino before slotting past a hapless Denis Onyango.
The home side were awarded a penalty after Daniel Cardoso was adjudged to have fouled Jeremie Brockie inside the 18-yard area.
Ricardo Nascimento stepped up to convert the spot kick and draw his side level.
The sides went into the halftime break locked at 1-1 after an entertaining end-to-end stuff.
The second stanza saw both sides coming out in attacking mood and had chances to score more goals and win the match but neither could bridge each other’s defense as the match ended in a draw.
