Cape Town City have confirmed the signing of Kermit Erasmus from Portuguese Primeira Liga outfit Vitória de Setúbal.

Despite his current contract still left with one-year-and-a-half, Setúbal gave the player permission to engage with clubs in the Premier Soccer League ahead of the January transfer window after he failed to secure a regular starting berth.

The Bafana Bafana international is seen as a direct replacement for Tokelo Rantie who struggled to break into the City side due to fitness, and thus failing to make a single appearance since joining the Mother City-based outfit in the July/August transfer window.

Erasmus, who has played for SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates in the past, left the Buccaneers in 2016 to join Rennes in French Ligue 1 before moving to Sweden and then lastly Portuguese.
