Controversial radio and telly personality DJ Sbu has not only lost face, but rumours suggest his fiancée Disebo Makatsa has called off their wedding planned for later this year.
Makatsa has even vacated the main bedroom of their Eagles Canyon Golf Estate Top Billing house and sleeps in the guest room with their daughter.
We can also reveal that Makatsa (28) will vacate their love nest after trying in vain to kick DJ Sbu out of it.
When approached for comment, Makatsa said: “I don’t speak about such things. Please send me your number and I will get my lawyer to call you.”
Makatsa’s relative, who did not want to be named for fear of reprisal, confirmed the businesswoman called off the wedding.
The relative said Makatsa called it quits because of DJ Sbu’s frequent late nights.
“She says this man would leave home on a Saturday for a late evening gig here in Jozi,” said the relative.
“And instead of returning home at midnight, he would return the following day after 6pm.
“This did not sit well with her. She told him she was unhappy with what he was doing. He promised to change but continued his wayward behaviour.”
The relative said the last straw was when he rejected her advice to apologise to the SABC for advertising his Mo Faya energy drink without their permission at the Metro FM Music Awards that were beamed live on the SABC1 about two months ago.
“She told us that when she asked him to apologise, Sbu told her Metro FM needs him more than he needs it,” said the relative.
“That is when she realised this boy was still wet behind the ears. She then told him she was cancelling the wedding – they had planned to have later this year. She told him she was no longer interested in their relationship and called it quits.”
The relative said Makatsa vacated their main bedroom and moved into the visitor’s room, where she had been sleeping for at least two months.
When Makatsa realised the tension between them had reached boiling point, she asked him to move to their ritzy pad in Kyalami, according the relative.
“When he refused, she decided she would move out of the house,” said the relative.
“She then found an apartment and should have moved out last month. She told me she phoned a couple of friends and business associates who loaned her money for the deposit of the apartment and she got it.”
When contacted, DJ Sbu said he was in a meeting and promised to revert back to us. He had not done so at the time of going to press.
