Distruction Boyz’s hit single ‘Omunye’ looks like it’s going international.
Distruction Boyz must be jumping up and down with joy after seeing their hit single, Omunye break international boundaries this week.
It all began when a South African Instagrammer shared their video on her page, as a reaction to the recently released Marvel film, Black Panther.
The video was perfectly timed but nobody could have predicted how viral it was about to go.
The visuals were quickly reposted by Ellen Degeneres who even tagged the Distruction Boyz in the clip and shared it with her followers.
The boys, like most South Africans, were elated by the news, with many declaring that this was the beginning of an international gqom movement.

Many people in the comments section of Ellen’s post requested that the presenter feature Distruction Boyz on their show and although she has yet to respond to these requests, we’re hoping it’s something that can happen in the near future.
When Distruction Boyz said “Gqom is the Future” (the title of their 2017 album), they weren’t kidding! This uniquely South African genre definitely looks like it’s here to stay.
