IT WAS a battle of giants in the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
Radio and TV sports presenter, Robert“Madluphuthu” Marawa, and The Lion King producer Lebo M and his fiancee, ZoeMthiyane, brought the best lawyers they could get to battle it out against each other.
The two parties were meeting for the first time since their public spat over Robert’s child with Zoe.
Zoe took him to court to pay maintenance for their four-year-old son. She wants Robert to pay a monthly maintenance fee of R28 900.
But Robert wants to take the child to live with him.
Robert, who arrived in court early, stole the limelight as his presence spread throughout the corridors.
As he sat in Civil Court A, officials, thepolice and the public who were present, found themselves jostling to take a glimpse of the Metro FM and SuperSport presenter.
While Robert cut a lone figure, warming the court benches, his lawyer and Zoe’s legal representatives were hard at work trying to find each other.
When Lebo M and Zoe arrived, the lawyers’ discussion didn’t bear much fruit.
The only agreement they reached was on a trial date.
Sunday Sun understands one of the reasons the two parties couldn’t agree was thatMadluphuthu doesn’t agree with the figures that Zoe is demanding from him.
“He wanted to negotiate the amount, but Zoe is sticking to the figures,” said one official who is privy to the case.
The official said Robert has been paying just above R2 000.
“Zoe is arguing that if you take that amount and multiply it by 12, Marawa spends R24 000 a year.
“This is a man who earns over R300 000 a month.”
It was reported that Zoe wants Robert to pay R2 500 for a driver, R8 750 for lodging, R2 450 for groceries and R500 for gardenservices. She also wanted R1 625 for the child’s wardrobe and R100 for his toiletries.
Zoe allegedly wants R4 970 for school fees and R1 400 for after-care.
For extramural activities, she wants R1 350 plus R1 427 for holidays.
