The Banyana Banyana duo of reigning CAF Women’s Footballer of the Year Thembi Kgatlana and Linda Motlhalo have been snapped up on one-year deals by Chinese Women’s Super League outfit Beijing BG Phoenix FC.

Both Kgatlana and Motlhalo recently parted ways with Houston Dash in the US after heavily been linked with a move to Asia.

Kgatlana has already had an impressive few months after she guided the SA national women’s team to a runners-up spot at the 2018 AWCON in Ghana, which subsequently qualified the team to the FIFA Women’s World Cup. She also walked away with four women-of-the match accolades as well as being the top goalscorer and player of the tournament.

She capped it all off after landing two major honours at the CAF Awards, the CAF Women’s Footballer of the Year as well as the Goal of the Year.

Motlhalo on the other hand picked up a single women’s of the match award at the continental showpiece and was drafted into the best 11 team alongside Kgatlana.

They will join up with her their employers after the Cyprus Women’s Cup.

Beijing BG Phoenix FC finished in sixth spot last season.
