French-based striker Lebogang Mothiba has been nominated for Ligue 1’s 2019 African Player of the Year award.
The award, which was named after the late Cameroonian star Marc-Vivien Foé, recognises the best talent from the African continent.
The Bafana Bafana forward was crowned as champion of the Coupe De La Ligue title with his side RC Strasbourg after they overcame Lebogang Phiri’s Guingamp in the final on penalties this past weekend.
Mothiba has so far netted 11 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions this season for Strasbourg.
He has also been in top form for South Africa with four goals in seven appearances, helping his country to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
