In the latest FIFA world rankings released on Thursday, South Africa dropped two places to 74th.

They remained 15th in Africa.

It come as no surprise after another dismal showing in the COSAFA Cup currently underway, after Stuart Baxter’s charges were eliminated from the regional tournament by minnows Madagascar last weekend.

Besides that embarrassment, there has been friendly matches played in preparation for the upcoming FIFA World Cup and Bafana have not taken part in any which seems to have left its mark on the latest world rankings.

Four of the top five African ranked teams that have qualified for Russia 2018 remain unmoved with Tunisia retaining their top spot, followed by Senegal, DR Congo (not going to Russia), Morocco and Egypt.
