Amajita rallied from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw before beating Zimbabwe 4-3 on penalties to claim a record seventh COSAFA U20 Youth Championship title in the final at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe on Thursday afternoon.

Keenan Abrahams converted the winning spot kick after Zimbabwe missed two of their penalties.

The Young Warriors got their goal through Delic Mirumba but Lyle Foster ensured that the holders take the game to penalty shootout with his fifth goal of the tournament.

The defending champions came into the match in brimming mood after narrowly beating Angola 1-0 in the semi-final.

In their opening match, Thabo Senong’s charges thumped Mauritius 5-0 before cruising past eSwatini with a resounding 4-0 success.

It was also double delight for the South Africans with Promise Mkhuma being voted as the Player of the Tournament, while Foster picked up the Golden Boot award with five goals alongside Zimbabwe’s Mirumba.
