In a twist turn of events, Ajax Cape Town have been relegated to the National First Division after the South African Football Association (SAFA) announced the verdict in the arbitration case over the eligibility of striker Tendai Ndoro on Tuesday morning.

The Urban Warriors have been docked all nine points from their matches against Platinum Stars, Polokwane City and SuperSport United after being found guilty of fielding an ineligible player.

The outcome, which was released via the football governing body’s twitter account, further confirmed that Ajax have been handed a R 150 000 fine, while Ndoro faces a two-match ban.

The guilty verdict against Muhsin Ertugral’s charges means they go from 31 points to 22, meaning that they are automatically relegated from the top flight.

Dikwena, who had initially been relegated, will now contest in the playoffs while Matsatsantsa a Pitori will move into the top eight, with AmaZulu dropping out.
