World Champions Germany Suffer Shock Defeat To Mexico

Holders Germany were sent crashing down from earth by Mexico who stunned the 2014 World Cup champions with a narrow 1-0 defeat to in their Group F opening fixture at the Luzhniki Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Hirving Lozano’s struck in the first half was enough to hand Juan Carlos Osorio’s men top of the group with three points while the holders dropped to bottom, with Sweden and South Korea yet to play.
It was sweet revenge for the Mexicans who lost 4-1 to the Germans in the semifinals of the FIFA Confederations Cup last year.
Joachim Low’s troops next face Sweden on Saturday, 23 June, and are on the brink of facing elimination from the group stages should they not collect maximum points.
