Kaizer Chiefs remain winless in four straight matches after been held to a 0-0 draw by ten-man Maritzburg United at a chilly Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday night.
The game got off to a great start with both sides testing their combinations.
Maritzburg were reduced to 10 men when Siphesihle Ndlovu was shown a straight red card for a lunging tackle on Siyabonga Ngezana with just 16 minutes on the clock.
Despite the one-man advantage, Chiefs failed to break down a resilient Maritzburg outfit.
The introduction of Siphiwe Tshabalala sparked a bit of life into the Chiefs attack, and the veteran midfielder almost broke the deadlock for the visitors with a well-taken shot from just inside the box but Richard Ofori pulled off a brilliant stop.
Khama Billiat came close to giving Chiefs the lead with a shot from just outside the box but it sailed just over the crossbar.
Daniel Cardoso had a last gasp chance to steal a win for Amakhosi with a combination play with Billiat inside the box but the defender delayed his final touch which saw Denwin Farmer clear the ball for a corner.
Fadlu Davids’ charges remained resilient against a fierce Amakhosi attack to earn a well deserved point.
