PSL Match Preview: Cape Town City vs Kaizer Chiefs – Citizens Out To Pile Pressure On Winless Amakhosi

Cape Town City host Kaizer Chiefs in a league encounter at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue and Gold Army played to a 2-2 draw in their last league match away to Free State Stars at Goble Park, which saw them move into seventh spot on the PSL standings.

Benni McCarthy’s troops followed up that result by booking an MTN8 final berth after overcoming Mamelodi Sundowns in a two-legged semi-final.

The Mother City outfit have played four matches, winning one, with two matches drawn and suffering a single loss.

Amakhosi are still in desperate search of their first league win of the season, and will be eager to give it their all to come away with maximum points from Cape Town.

Giovanni Solinas and his men came close to bagging their first win of the season in their last league match, but threw away a two-goal lead against Bloemfontein Celtic in their 2-2 draw at FNB Stadium.

Chiefs were also then knocked out of the MTN8 semi-finals by SuperSport United which further piled pressure on the head coach and players with one trophy now out of their reach.

The two sides have met on three occasions with Chiefs winning two while City won one.

The Glamour Boys have roped in former City attacker Lebogang Manyama and this could aid them in preparing well for what could be a first win for the Soweto giants who are in 13th spot with just four points from their last five matches.
