PSL Match Preview: AmaZulu vs Orlando Pirates – Usuthu Target Struggling Buccaneers

AmaZulu take on Orlando Pirates in a league match at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban on Saturday night.

Usuthu are winless in their last four matches and are on the back of a 0-0 draw against provincial rivals Maritzburg United. A plus however for the hosts is that they are unbeaten at home this season after winning two and drawing two in four ties.

Cavin Johnson’s charges are facing a conundrum as they currently anchor the PSL table after being docked points for unlawfully terminating the contract of a Namibian soccer player.

Amabesh’ankone will look to bank on the likes of Bonginkosi Ntuli and Butholwezwe Ncube to come to the party in helping AmaZulu claim maximum points.

The Buccaneers on the other hand have been drawing blanks, and were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw at home by Golden Arrows on October 3.

Milutin Sredojevic’s charges will be eyeing top spot and will equally hope that in-form midfielder Vincent Pule spearheads their attack in their bid to topple Bidvest Wits from the league summit.

In head-to-head stats, Pirates and AmaZulu have met in 55 league matches since 1985.

The Ghost have claimed 24 wins compared to 10 for Usuthu, while 21 matches have been drawn.

Last season, Pirates took four points off AmaZulu, with the teams playing out a 1-1 draw in Soweto in the first half of the campaign.

The reverse fixture saw the Buccaneers win 2-1 in Durban.
