Orlando Pirates Confirm Signing Of Nine Players

Soweto giants Orlando Pirates have made their intentions clear ahead of the upcoming campaign with the acquisition of nine players.
With the CAF Champions League competition very much in mind for Milutin Sredojevic and his charges next season, the club confirmed on Monday that they had brought in almost 10 players in order to challenge for major honours during the 2018/19 season.
Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo, who played second fiddle to first choice Itumeleng Khune during his six-year stay at Naturena, was perhaps the biggest name amongst the new arrivals.
The trio of Paseka Mako, who made his Bafana Bafana debut during the recently concluded COSAFA Castle Cup, Abel Mabaso and Linda Mntambo join the Buccaneers from ‘feeder club’ Chippa United.
Bidvest Wits duo Ben Motshwari and Vincent Pule also cross town to join the Clever Boys’ provincial rivals.
Mamelodi Sundowns’ versatile player Asavela Mbekile, who struggled for game time towards the end of the season at Chloorkop, brings experience and stability to Bucs’ backline.
Zimbabwean winger Kudakwashe Mahachi makes the move to Gauteng from KwaZulu-Natal outfit Golden Arrows.
Meshack Maphangule, who helped guide Black Leopards back to the PSL during the promotional/relegation playoffs, completes the list.
Defender Ayanda Gcaba has been released by Bucs, and it remains to be seen which other players will follow suit.
