Mayeni dropped a bombshell on tonight’s episode of Uthando Nesthembu. At the end of the show she can be seen asking for a divorce that left her husband Musa Mseleku gasping for air.
Mzansi Magic’s reality show Uthando Nes’thembu unpacks how businessman Musa Mseleku and his wives manage their colourful family, which consists of MaCele, his first wife, second wife MaYeni, MaKhumalo, the third wife, fourth wife MaNgwabe and their 10 children.
On one of the her interviews MaYeni (37) said she never envisioned being in a polygamous marriage. She was Mseleku’s first girlfriend, but when she told him that her family would disapprove of the traditional practice of polygamy, Mseleku married MaCele.
MaYeni told HypeAvenue.com that her family realised that Mseleku was a good, responsible man, despite him being married to another woman. “Besides him being married, everything about Musa was great and we still had a good relationship,” she said at the time.
She said the prospect of sharing her man with someone else initially posed challenges but that she eventually came around to the idea. “I told myself I have to accept it in order to be happy,” adding that she knows it also wasn’t easy for MaCele to accept her.
While the arrangement may seem like an powder keg, MaYeni said the wives get on like a house on fire. She says every household has its ups and downs but that her personality enables her to confront challenges head on.
“If I have a problem with any of the wives I won’t keep quiet or sweep it under the carpet. I’m very open and transparent, so if someone has done something I don’t like, I will voice it.”
The full-time admin assistant adds that honesty and transparency is what’s kept the family together; when something or someone is wrong, they address it immediately.
MaYeni said the most challenging aspect about being in a polygamous marriage is having to be understanding of each wife.
We can’t wait for next week’s episode to find out how the story transpires.
