New signing Lebohang Maboe scored on his full debut to see Mamelodi Sundowns record a 2-0 win over Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Brazilians took the lead through Brazilian Ricardo Nascimento’s header from a Gaston Sirino cross, to make it two goals in two outings following his penalty goal against Kaizer Chiefs at the weekend.
City struggled to string passes together as Sundowns restricted them to ample time on the ball.
The visitors were dealt a huge blow when shot-stopper Denis Onyango was stretchered off after sustaining a head injury, taking an elbow to the neck. He was replaced by Kennedy Mweene.
Masandawana increase their lead shortly after through new signing Maboe who was making his full debut. The former Chiefs juniors player doubled Sundowns’ lead eight minutes into the second half with a superb header in the far corner from a pin-point from Lyle Lakay.
There was no way back for the home side as Pitso Mosimane’s charges cruised to a 2-0 win to claim maximum points.
