Steve Komphela has been appointed as Bloemfontein Celtic’s new coach on a three-year deal after resigning from his post at Kaizer Chiefs in April.
Siwelele have been searching for a coach after Serbian mentor Veselin Jelusic decided to hand in his resignation.
Max Tshabalala, the chairman of Bloemfontein Celtic, confirmed to Soccer Laduma of Komphela’s appointment saying, “Yes, we have agreed with Steve Komphela, I don’t know how it got out, but we’ve agreed on terms. We decided to go for Steve Komphela because we believe that he’s the best man for the job.
“We need someone to uplift the morale in the team… He understands South African football and has been in the Free State in the past. The club is a big brand and for the supporters, we need to build the team.”
Tshabalala also further explained that it was a three-year deal for the former Amakhosi coach, while explaining that everything has been agreed to and that they are formalising the deal.
Celtic are due back to start their pre-season on Wednesday, 20 June.
