DJ Sbu has failed his MBA, but he’s not about to give up. The popular media personality has been enrolled in an MBA program at Henley Business School in Johannesburg for the past few years and even went underground last year to focus on his studies. But he revealed in an Instagram post this week that he has failed the course.
Taking to Instagram on Monday to encourage three of his protégés, Sbu reflected on his failures and how they have taught him about God’s timing. During his message of hope, he revealed that he had recently been notified that he had failed his MBA and intended to go back next year.
“Remember this: Myself & many didn’t pass our matric at 1st attempt. After failing matric we didn’t commit suicide. After failing a countless times including dropping out in Tertiary, we didn’t give up, we went back to eventually finish our qualifications. Though it wasn’t record time. But when it’s God’s time, no one can say ‘No’,” he wrote.
Sbu also reflected on some of his professional failures, including a spell where he thought he might never make it on radio or TV.
“(I) Came out runner-up at the ‘Yfm Tropika Voice Of The Future Competition’. I was disappointed. Didn’t think my radio dream would become a reality. (I’ve) been fired twice on radio, lost Castle Loud (Before it was Live Amp) to my brother Stoan (Seate), almost gave up my TV dream, but little did I know I would get Friends Like These a few months later, which I went on to host for 10 years,” he reflected.
Sbu went on to encourage his protégés, telling them he had full confidence in them, but that they should always remember to respect God’s timing.
“His plan is never ours. So respect his timing and be proud of yourselves because it’s just only a matter of time. You start seeing what He has in store for all of you. Well done guys we are all proud of you. Moral of the story: It happens in God’s time, not ours.”
