Kaizer Chiefs Successfully Defend Macufe Cup

Kaizer Chiefs recorded a 2-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic to win the inaugural Macufe Cup for the third straight year at a jam-packed Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday afternoon.

Lebogang Manyama struck in the first half before Dumisani Zuma added Amakhosi’s second in added time as Giovanni Solinas’ charges ran out victorious to claim their seventh Macufe Cup title.

With a number of first team players on national duty with their respective countries, Solinas was still spoiled for choice and gave nods to the likes of Eric Mathoho, Willard Katsande, George Maluleka, Manyama and Gustavo Páez.

Chiefs next face a tricky home fixture against Black Leopards in the Telkom Knockout last 16 round on Saturday,  October 20.
