Meet Etv’s Club 808 and YFM presenter Cyprian Ndlovu

Cyprian Ndlovu

Hype Avenue was able to get hold of Cyprian Ndlovu despite his hectic schedule. For those who might not know, Cyprian is the co-presenter for Club 808 on ETV, YFM presenter/radio DJ, Planet Fitness ambassador, student and a campaigning ambassador for Joop Men’s fragrance. We had a telecom conversation with him to discuss about his entry in the industry, the strides he has made and his future prospects within the entertainment industry and his studies in Monash University.

Cyprian talks to Zolani:

Q: Besides the buzz, the cameras and the lights, who is Cyprian?

A: I’m a loving and accessible person who likes to hang out with friends and like-minded people. My life is not confined to TV, I have a huge life outside Television I’m also a DJ for YFM.

Q: Has it always been a plan or dream to be part of the entertainment industry or is it fate that took its course?

A: Growing up my dream was to be part of the corporate world but after high school I took a break and did a presenting course. I went out to about four auditions and ultimately got my break, therefore I can say that it was a plan and not a mistake that I’m in television.

Q: How long did it take you to prepare for your first appearance in Club 808 and was it scary especially working with someone who’s more familiar with the set-up like Boity?

A: Before the job I worked for Vuzu (a DSTV channel) for more than a year and I was familiar with the set-up and there was nothing to be scared about. Boity is a colleague and we’re both hired to do a job thus there was nothing to be scared of.

Q: Any vital lessons you’ve learnt thus far you would like to share with us and those who aspire to be part of the industry?

A: I’d say that getting in the industry is easy but how you manoeuvre within and around the industry is the greatest job. It requires patience and a lot of hard work.

Q: What course or degree are you studying at Monash University?

A: I’m studying International studies in Economics.

Q: What plans do you have after finishing?

A: My plan is to start and run my own business.

Q: How are you managing your schedule, keep fit and still maintain a well-balanced life?

A: I plan out my day and I don’t do anything without a plan. I’m driving now and doing an interview with you that was scheduled and I had to prepare for it and fit it in my plan for the day.

Q: How did the role of ambassadorship for Planet Fitness come about?

A: Tjoo this one is very difficult to explain, it was actually a youth show relationship. My people approached Planet Fitness and asked if I can’t be their ambassador for the brand and they agreed.

Q: If it won’t put you in trouble with your contract, could you please share with us what perks from Planet Fitness are you enjoying?

A: Being at the club is the greatest reward.

Q: With your looks, the strides you’ve made and being close to attaining your degree how do you avert the many temptations in the entertainment industry which would want to steal your focus?

A: I want to live a long life and there are so many things I’d like to achieve, there’s no way I could let the many temptations in the industry distract or steal my focus.

Q: Any words of wisdom and encouragement you would like to leave our audience?

A: Apply yourself, keep your head up and be grateful for the opportunities you have.

Comment: Thank you for your time, myself and the entire team at Hype Avenue we would like to wish you the best of luck in all your endeavours and future prospects.

A: Thank you
